Kasha what?

A gluten-free, easily digestible wheat substitute, full of vitamins, minerals and fibres

What is KASHA ?
This word may not mean anything to you but actually... kasha is buckwheat that has been shelled and roasted ! After this "transformation" the buckwheat is called « kasha ».

Originally grown and consumed in Asia, kasha is now also grown in Central and Eastern Europe and Russia.

Kasha is a perfect substitute for wheat since buckwheat is not a cereal and therefore contains no gluten. Another great advantage of kasha is its short cooking time : it can be cooked in less than 5 minutes in boiling water.

What can kasha bring me ?
, Buckwheat has many benefits: it is very nutritious, easy to digest and contains many vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6, E), mineral salts (magnésium, potassium, copper, calcium, iron & phosphorus) as well as fibres. Just like oats, buckwheat helps to regulate the level of bad cholesterol in the blood.

With 13g of protein per 100g of kasha, it is an excellent source of vegetable protein for vegetarians and vegans or for those who wish to reduce their daily meat consumption!

How should I cook kasha ?
It is even possible to make kasha yourself, simply by toasting peeled buckwheat seeds for a few minutes in a fat-free pan.

Kasha can accompany both sweet and savoury dishes as well as hot and cold dishes. Added to muesli and desserts, it gives a rather original crunchy touch. It can also replace minced meat as a filling for all kinds of vegetables.

A « must-try » for those who want to have a varied and balanced diet!
