1. The BRITA jug is better for the environment

For many years now, people have been looking for alternatives to disposable plastics and the BRITA carafe has long been a leading item in this field.

The latter is made of sturdy Plexiglas and lasts for several years.  This is in contrast to plastic bottles, which are fragile, difficult to clean and after 3 times of use, they no longer look like anything.

Currently, the trend is towards stainless steel or glass, which are excellent alternatives and do not release any substances into your water.

However, the disadvantages of one are the advantages of the other.  Stainless steel is heavy and deforms when it hits the ground. The disadvantages of glass are obvious: it is heavy and fragile.  The BRITA carafe is lightweight, made of almost unbreakable Plexiglass, BPA-free and phtalate-free.

But they complement each other: using the BRITA water filter jug to filter your purified water
purified water and pouring it into your stainless steel or glass water bottle to enjoy purified water during your getaway is a simple and sustainable solution..

Another piece of information that may be of interest and surprise to many is that BRITA filter cartridges are 100% recycled in the BRITA recycling chain. We tell you more in the blog about the recycling of  MAXTRA cartridges

To sum it up the BRITA cartridges  are light, almost unbreakable, the filters of BRITA jugs and water bottles are 100% recycled.

2. The BRITA carafe purifies your water

Because yes, in addition to being ecological, it filters and purifies water. Does your tap water taste bad? Do you notice strange reflections in your coffee or tea? There is a simple and effective way to enjoy your favourite drinks: filtered water from your BRITA jug.

Instead of installing an expensive, cumbersome and complicated filter on the kitchen tap or buying an expensive reverse osmosis unit, simply consider spending a little on a BRITA water filter jug or two.

If you want to know how most filtration systems work, please visit our blog " What is the best tap water filter? ". You will undoubtedly discover the system that suits you best.

The BRITA carafe has a filter that removes heavy metals and chlorine through activated charcoal as well as limescale through a synthetic ion exchanger.

If you want to know how most filtration systems work, please visit our blog " How does binchotan activated charcoal purify water? ». All activated charcoal filters work in the same way. The BRITA Maxtra+ filter also works the same way.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, your carafe will make your life healthier.

3. The BRITA jug is economical

A 2.4L BRITA carafe costs €21.50, a 1.5L bottle of Evian water costs €0.84.

Knowing that we normally drink 6L of water per day for an average family of 4, we spend €3.36 per day on water in disposable plastic bottles.

It will take you 7 days to pay for your BRITA carafe.

During these 7 days, 28 1,5L plastic bottles will be saved in your PMC bin or in the environment. In addition, you will use your BRITA carafe for much longer, which means even more plastic bottles will be saved!

4. The BRITA carafe is ergonomic

The elegant, neutral colours of BRITA jugs blend in perfectly with any interior. (white, blue, black).

They are transparent, so you can see the water level at a glance and refill if necessary.

The electronic counter tells you when it is time to change the filter. This is a simple "hourglass" of one month, it does not take into account the actual use of the carafe. It just tells you where you are in the usage period.

The ergonomic handle fits comfortably in the hand and allows the valve to be operated for easy filling.

The BRITA carafe is designed to take up a minimum of space in the fridge door while providing you with 2.4L of water.

5. The BRITA carafe is easy to use

The BRITA jug requires little maintenance. Just wipe the lid with a clean cloth and especially the area around the lid to avoid white marks from unfiltered water. Take care of your carafe, it will last!

Change the filter once a month and if you use more than 100 litres of water per month, it is advisable to change it more often. 100 litres of water is equivalent to filling 42 jugs. Check your average consumption for the first month and make a note in your diary so you don't forget.  After this time, your filter will still work, but it will lose its efficiency.

The BRITA carafe can be completely dismantled into 4 parts, the large container with the handle, the smaller container with the filter and finally the cap. This makes it easy to wash.

In addition, the BRITA jug is dishwasher safe, except for the lid (the small electronic counter on top does not like the heat of the dishwasher).
