Food waste, an unacceptable situation

Belgium is breaking records... for waste! Let's reverse the trend

In 2017, the equivalent of 350 kg of food per capita were thrown away - double the EU average. Only our Dutch neighbours do worse. Distribution seems to be particularly inefficient, with a loss of around 25% in 2014.

Natural resources are precious. Their processing, packaging and transport consume energy. And not everyone has enough to eat... There are only good reasons to try to reduce and eradicate this waste.

Help us to get the most out of good products

A simple method to stop throwing away

- Organic products, which are free of preservatives and artificial additives, often have shorter storage periods than mass market products. KissPlanet withdraws from normal sales those products that are close to or have just passed their best before date (BBD).

- However, these products are still delicious and fit for consumption, without waiting too long of course.

- KissPlanet offers you surprise baskets at a maximum of 1/3 of the normal selling price of the products. You don't know the contents, which vary from one basket to another, but you are guaranteed multi-product baskets with varied contents. Good organic products at great prices, to indulge yourself and avoid waste, isn't that cool?

- You can choose from food baskets or hygiene products (which have expiry dates), and you choose the value of the basket you want (you always save at least 67%!!).

Avoiding waste is the first lever for saving our resources, including in the fight against global warming.

KissPlanet rejects this absurd situation and takes action at all levels:

- Optimum stock management. This is why we sometimes have to ask you for a little patience before the products are back in stock;

- Clear communication of the BBDs of its products;

- Donation to food banks and Restos du Coeur;

- And by offering you our rich and delicious anti spill surprise baskets!  

Our goal is simple: throw nothing away! And thanks to you, we're getting there!

A few rules to limit waste

To maintain this performance, we would like to draw your attention to the rules related to the purchase of our surprise baskets:

- The contents of the baskets are unknown to you at the time of purchase. This is normal for a surprise basket, isn't it? The photos that illustrate our pages or our baskets are therefore examples (hey there, don't cheat, it's a surprise!). On the other hand, the contents vary from one basket to another and from one time to another of course.

- Anti spill baskets (identified as such on our site) are neither taken back nor exchanged. Since the products must be consumed within a short time and are no longer available for sale, it makes sense, doesn't it? It is also consistent with the "first come, first served" principle.

- KissPlanet no longer guarantees the shelf life of these products and besides, this is not what you expect either.
