NAJEL

The Al Najjar family has been making authentic Aleppo soap since 1895 according to an ancestral craftmanship. Aleppo soap is the first hard soap made for centuries, it is the ancestor of Marseille soap. This know-how is transmitted from generation to generation in the Al Najjar family soap factory located in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria.

Every year from the end of November to the end of March, the manufacture of the first hard soap in the world is repeated according to an immutable process. The soaps then dry for at least nine months. During this period the soaps oxidise on the surface and take on a yellow/brown colour, the heart retains the green colour of the oils that compose it.

Aleppo Najel soap is made exclusively from olive oil and laurel berry oil, two noble oils which give it many virtues. Saponified olive oil is a powerful cleanser that nourishes, protects and softens the skin. Laurel berry oil is known for its disinfectant and regenerating properties. The higher its concentration, the more soothing the soap is for irritated or skin problems (psoriasis, eczema, acne, dermatosis).
