RESPIIN

Respiin is a brand designed and developed by Green Pioneer in the UK.

It is a household brand that was created to showcase recycled and renewable textiles.

It's exciting to see how sustainable textiles have evolved over the last few years and it was time to bring together some of the most innovative materials under one brand.

Every material used has a story to tell - whether it's about how it grows or how far it's come. ReSpiin works directly with pioneering producers who bring as much value as possible to the materials they have to work with.

ReSpiin blankets are made from recycled wool. Used clothing is collected through recycling programmes around the world and then sent back to India for sorting and reworking. Transporting the clothes to India seems like a long journey, but it is actually an advantage for container ships returning to India to fill their empty containers. Once in India, the garments are sorted by type and colour of fabric. Our supplier uses only woollen garments and blends of different wools and the resulting material consists of at least 65% wool and 35% other fibres (usually polyester and nylon). The garments are washed, decomposed, transformed into fibres, spun and then woven. The colour of the fabric is the result of the original wools - no dyes are added.

The supplier in India is an SA8000 certified organisation. The SA8000 standard is one of the world's first auditable social certification standards for decent workplaces. It defines the requirements to be met by organisations, including the establishment or strengthening of workers' rights, working conditions and an effective management system.

Audits are carried out annually. They also comply with the ISO: 9001: 2008 standards for quality management systems.
